In
Situ Gamma Spectroscopy Services
Defensible, cost-effective
waste characterization data are essential to proper management of
wastes from operations, remediation, and decontamination and decommissioning
activities. We offer unique capabilities for in situ radiological
waste characterization using nondestructive assay methods and our
Spectral Non-Destructive Assay Platform (SNAP) analytical tool.
Eberline Services
has successfully used SNAP at U.S. Department of Energy and U.S.
Department of Defense sites to characterize radioactive waste and
reclassify radioactive materials and waste resulting in lower management
and disposal costs at these facilities. Our portable instrumentation
allows us the flexibility to assay both standard containers and
oversized, odd-shaped, and small waste containers and items. We
provide data on isotopics, as well as activity levels. Because of
the versatility of the model and very low detection limits, tremendous
cost savings have been realized from site characterization and free
release/low-level determinations. The model has been used to achieve
free release of various building materials, containerized soils,
and concrete slabs.
SNAP has been
deployed at sites including:
- DOE Los Alamos
National Laboratory
- DOD FUSRAP
Colonie Site
- Battelle
Columbus Labs
- DOE Rocky
Flats Environmental Technology Site
- DOE Mound
