Analytical
Services
Eberline Services'
Analytical Group offers the capabilities of one
of the nation's largest
radiochemistry laboratory networks and a track record of reliability
earned through more than 50 years of radiochemistry experience.
The laboratory network offers comprehensive radiochemical analyses,
including environmental radiochemistry, radiological bioassay analysis,
nuclear utility waste characterization, ambient and workplace air
analysis, and biota analysis. Our laboratories can provide legally
defensible data in virtually any hard copy and electronic format
required. We hold numerous laboratory certifications,
accreditations,
and approvals, including
- National
Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP)
- Department
of Energy Consolidated Accreditation Program (DOECAP)
- Department
of Energy Laboratory Audit Program (DOELAP)
- Integrated
Contractor Purchasing Team (ICPT)
- Nuclear Procurement
Issues Committee (NUPIC) approval
- More
than 20 state
certifications
- U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers validation
- U.S. Department
of Agriculture
Through
our Lionville
Laboratory, Inc. (LvLi), we provide stable
chemistry and mixed waste analyses.
Eberline Services and LvLi have partnered on mixed waste analytical
projects since 1987.

SUMMARIES
Onsite
Radiochemistry Services at Rocky Flats Environmental Technology
Site (RFETS)
Through a highly successful laboratory privatization at the U.S.
Department of Energy's (DOE's) RFETS, Eberline Services provided
radiochemical analysis, including gross alpha and beta screenings,
alpha energy analysis, and tritium and plutonium analysis by a variety
of techniques such as liquid scintillation, alpha spectrometry,
and gas flow proportional counting. Samples came from RFETS closure
activities such as radioactive and hazardous liquids and solids
processing; environmental remediation; and decontamination and decommissioning.
In support of these activities, Eberline Services analyzed approximately
2,000 samples per week according to rigorous quality control and
rapid turnaround time requirements. These operations were highly
customized to fulfill the onsite needs, including a customized alpha
counter designed specifically to meet RFETS need to measure radioactivity
in air filters.
In
Vitro Bioassay Services at Sandia National Laboratories
(SNL)
Eberline Services provided in vitro bioassay services to DOE's SNL
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The bioassay samples collected by SNL's
Radiation Protection Internal Dosimetry Project were submitted to
Eberline Services for analysis of Naturally Occurring Radioactive
Material (NORM), mixed fission/activation products, and transuranic
parameters. The analyses were performed in compliance with ANSI/HPS
N13.30-1996, Performance Criteria for Radiobioassay at Eberline
Services' DOELAP-accredited laboratory. We provided a complete data
package consisting of a full CLP-equivalent package and electronic
deliverables in a modified format to meet SNL requirements.
Soils
and Groundwater Radioanalytical Support
Eberline Services provides radiochemical analyses in support of
the soils and groundwater programs at the DOE's Savannah River Site.
The radiochemical analytical measurements are performed to ensure
compliance with environmental regulations. We provide prompt, definitive
radiochemical analysis of samples and provide data that meet the
client and state's strict reporting deadlines. Samples analyzed
include soils, sediment, groundwater, surface water, solids, fuel,
oil, coal, sludge, and other media. The analyses are performed using
state-of-the-art methods and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA)-accepted protocols. We deliver a final data package consisting
of a full CLP-equivalent data package and electronic deliverables.
Radioanalytical
Support at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
Eberline Services provides radiochemistry services to Bechtel Jacobs
Company, LLC, the management and integration contractor for environmental
management at DOE sites in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky;
and Portsmouth, Ohio. This support involves routine environmental
monitoring and waste characterization. The analytes consist of NORM,
as well as fission and activation products and cyclotron materials.
Services consist of analyzing samples (water, soils, vegetation,
air filters, debris, concrete, and other media) for specific radionuclides.
The final data package is of a full CLP-equivalent data package.
Nuclear
Utility Support
Eberline Services performs analysis of the nation's nuclear power
station high-concentrated liquid waste. We provide radiobioassay
services designed for nuclear power plants, including specific analyses,
sampling frequency, and dose modeling assumptions to permit proper
investigation levels for any positive results. Our nuclear utility
analysis consists primarily of environmental, bioassay, and waste
stream sample analysis. We are NUPIC-approved for nuclear utility
analytical support and have significant experience and expertise
in performing analysis compliant with 10 CFR 61 waste characterization
analysis and 10 CFR 50 requirements.
